Urbana City Schools participated in the Ohio Kids Summit, a one-day event that brought together state leaders and cross-agency teams from all 88 Ohio counties to advance Ohio’s commitment to children and families.

The summit focused on three strategic goals: reducing infant mortality, increasing access to early care and education, and reducing the rate of entry into foster care. The event provided an opportunity for education, health, mental health, and social service professionals to collaborate, share ideas, and identify strategies to better support children and families.

Champaign County was represented by a diverse group of local leaders and professionals, including representatives from DJFS, the Educational Service Center, the WIC Health District, mental health and addiction services, and local school districts.

The summit reinforced the importance of collaboration among schools, agencies, and community partners. By working together, Champaign County organizations can strengthen systems of support and help ensure that children and families have access to the resources, services, and opportunities they need to thrive.
